"There is nothing more defenseless than the still warm corpse of a little being."
The scent of immortality!

Everyone who has seen the light of day is aware even at an early age that his life will not last forever. Even the unconscious animals experience fear of death.
This fear is not only "inborn", but it is also a result of knowledge, observations and experiences. Everything around us dies – the flies, the humans, the galaxies, and, perhaps, someday – the Universe.
There is nothing wrong with this (if we refer to the gallows humor). That is how the world goes on. For a new life to emerge, the old one must yield to it. In the constant movement from eternal birth to death (and vice versa), philosophers find one of the greatest sacraments and magnificence of nature.
The problem is that this seemingly bleak, albeit logical situation is an image in the science mirror. In fact, science can do nothing but reflect the facts, analyze them and bring them into a system. And they are, as has already been said, birth, life, death. And the circle closes.
However, why, despite this irrefutable presumption, which should be clear to all and accepted with calmness, does another, albeit illogical constitution remain alive?
Why, knowing that every living creature in this world dies (and that there are absolutely no other alternatives in nature), all our lives pass under the "sign" of another sensation – of immortality? How do our thoughts and actions guide us from an invisible force that, it seems, in spite of all natural constraints, whispers to us: "Pay no attention to what is happening around you, live as if you are immortal!"?
Our question to science is: from where comes this ethereal, "sticky," sense of eternity, that charges us with an intoxicating mood: "Live and do not think about the death"?
Note: It is not "Live, because sooner or later you will die." (in the sense: eat fast and as much as you can, because the food will end – which is a pure sample of selfish and utilitarian philosophy, that, unfortunately, prevails in today's consumer society). But: "Live and do not care about the end"!
Interestingly, this feeling is stronger than all logical and empirical evidences. How can we explain it, without resorting to faith? How and where can we find the rational grounds of this "computer algorithm", that has no right to exist in the program called "Life"?
For the time being, we cannot answer. However, will one day, despite the difficulties, scientists be able to find the cause of this feeling – the IMMORTALITY, as they did with gravitational waves – after many doubts, mistrust, denials, and so on?
And if this happens, it would mean that the algorithm has its objective, physical, real grounds – to motivate our “unconvincing” belief in a non-existing reality.
For it we live...
